Installing Raspberry Pi OS Made Easy

New to Raspberry Pi? This guide will walk you through how to get it up and running in no time.

What you'll need before we start:

Raspberry Pi (Any model) I'm using the Pi 4
SD Card (With at least 8gb of storage)
A computer with internet access
SD Card Reader
Monitor, Keyboard and Mouse

Step 1 - Download Raspberry Pi Imager

Download Raspberry Pi Imager

Go to https://www.raspberrypi.com/software
Download and install the Raspberry Pi Imager for your computer (Windows, macOS, or Linux)

Step 2 Insert Micro SD Card into Reader

Insert the microSD Card

Plug your microSD card into your computer using a card reader

Step 3 - Raspberry Pi Imager

Open Raspberry Pi Imager software

Click “Choose Device”
Pick the Raspberry Pi model you’re using

For example: if you have a Raspberry Pi 4, select “Raspberry Pi 4” from the list.

Step 4 - Choose Storage

Choose Storage

Click “Choose Storage”
Pick your microSD card from the list

Step 5 - Optional Setup (Wi-Fi & Username)

Click "Edit Settings" here you can adjust the following settings below if required to

- Wi-Fi name and password (This one is useful as it'll connect your PI straight to your internet on boot.)
- Username and password (Pre account setup recommended.)
- Enable SSH (for remote access)

Step 6 - Start Install Of PI OS

Click “Next"
Then select Yes and wait for the installation to complete.

Step 7 - Insert microSD into Raspberry Pi

Once installation is complete, remove the card from your computer

Insert it into your Raspberry Pi

Final Step - Power on your Pi

Power On

Plug in your Raspberry Pi
It will boot up and guide you through setup
